How to Send a File (For Business Purposes Only)

ATTENTION STUDENTS: This resource is NOT for for general or computer cluster printing. For general printing and computer cluster information please refer to OIT's "Get Started" page.

Files can be submitted to Print Services by either emailing a PDF to [email protected] (or directly to your Print Services contact) or by uploading your file to our server.

Connecting to the File Server on a PC (Windows 10/11)

You must first be connected to the Princeton domain to connect to the Print & Mail Services File Server. To connect to the Princeton domain via virtual private network (VPN), click here.

* Edge and Firefox users can skip steps 1 & 2 by using shortcuts for PRINT or MAIL.

  1. Click on the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen to open the Start Menu.
  2. In the address/search bar, type the following:
    For Print Jobs: \\files\Dept\P&M\TOPRINT
    For Mail Jobs: \\files\Dept\P&M\TOMAIL
  3. A new window will appear on the desktop. Drag your document onto the window to submit you file. If your job includes multiple files, please first place them in a single folder before submitting your job.
  4. Once the document is on our server, call (8-3493), or email ([email protected]) to give us instructions.

When placing an order for a job, please be sure to include the following:

  • Client’s name and telephone number
  • Department name 
  • Departmental Chart String 
  • To whom/where the proof gets delivered 
  • To whom/where the final job gets delivered (include complete address)
  • Specifics of the job (e.g. quantity, stock, ink color, cutting, folding, binding, mailing information, etc.)

Connecting to the File Server on a Macintosh (MacOS)

* Safari and Firefox users can skip steps 1 & 2 by using shortcuts for PRINT or MAIL.

  1. From the Desktop, click on the "Go" menu along the top of the screen and select "Connect to Server"
  2. In the address box, type the following:
    For Print Jobs: smb://files.princeton.edu/Dept/P&M/TOPRINT
    For Mail Jobs: smb://files.princeton.edu/Dept/P&M/TOMAIL
  3. Login using your Princeton Net ID and password]
  4. A new Finder window will appear on your desktop. Drag your document onto the window to submit your file. If your job includes multiple files, please first place them in a single folder before submitting your job.
  5. Once the document is on our server, call (8-3493), fax (8-1336), or email ([email protected]) to give us instructions.
